What Are Some Things That We Wrestle With?

Matthew 16:  13-17

13 When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?”

14 They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”

15 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”

16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.

Historically what difference does Jesus make?

1.    Without Jesus we’d have no Christmas

2.    Jesus is the most controversial figure in history

3.    Jesus Christ actually lived

4.    Non-Christian authors wrote of Jesus

5.    Ancient writers discussed the existence of Jesus


Biblically what difference does Jesus make?



1.    A veil divided man and God. The veil was a barrier between God and manIsaiah 59:2 

2.    Only the High Priest allowed in the Most Holy Place

3.    We need a priest - A High Priest to represent us.



1.    Jesus, the Perfect High Priest (Hebrews 10: 12, 26)

2.    Old Testament priest no longer necessary (1 Timothy 2:5).

3.    Believers have direct access to God (Matt 27:51; Hebrews 4:14-16).


The difference Jesus makes

ØWe have intimate fellowship with God.
