Finding Freedom in Christ

Communion

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.           Galatians 1:3-5

1. What has God given us by faith in Jesus Christ? (v3) “Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ”

·       Grace and Peace!

·       Grace is the unmerited favor of God and peace flows from His grace!

2. What did Jesus do to make grace and peace possible? (v4a) “(Jesus) …who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age…”

·       Jesus gave himself to die for our sins.

·       Jesus gave himself for us voluntarily and sacrificially!

3. Why did Jesus die on the cross for us?

(v4b) “(Jesus) …who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age…”

·       Jesus died to rescue us from the present evil age.

·       The present evil age includes a cursed condition and the judgment of God!

4. Whose desire was it to rescue us ?

(v4c) “…According to the will of our God and Father…”

·       It was the will of the Father to rescue us!

·       It was the will of the Father to give us Grace and Peace!

5. What should be our responsibility to God?

(v5)  “…to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.”

·       God’s Grace and Peace in our lives liberates us from the penalty of sin freeing us to call God – Father!

·       Amen – Make it so!
